Pediatric Dietician Services

What is a pediatric dietician?

A pediatric dietician guides families on creating and maintaining healthy eating habits for children. They can address specific health concerns such as picky eating or gastrointestinal disorders, and provide valuable advice on portion sizes, meal planning, and food choices for proper nutritional health.

What do we work on in therapy?

A pediatric dietician offers personalized therapy sessions tailored to meet each child's unique goals. These sessions can include evaluating current nutritional habits, developing individualized nutrition plans, tackling behavioral issues related to eating, and providing counseling and effective strategies to promote positive eating behaviors.

Indicators a child may benefit from dietary services:

  • Poor weight gain or growth
  • Picky eating habits that limit the variety of foods the child will consume
  • Gastrointestinal problems such as constipation or diarrhea
  • Food allergies or sensitivities
  • Chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, celiac disease, or metabolic disorders that require special nutritional care
  • Developmental delays that may be influenced by nutrition
  • Behavioral issues related to food such as food aversions, difficulty with mealtime behaviors, or excessive reliance on a certain type of food
  • Challenges transitioning from breastfeeding/formula feeding to solid foods
  • Any family concerns regarding a child's eating habits, weight, or overall well-being

Services begin with a 60 minute initial evaluation to get to know both you and your child and what difficulties you may be concerned about. This can  be done in person or over Telehealth.

A doctor’s prescription will be required to schedule an initial evaluation.

If your child is deemed a candidate for services, Color Along Pediatric Therapy provides pediatric dietician services to begin implementing interventions to meet goals set for your child.
